Raise the Walls on Habitat for Humanity House

Lowe’s providing $50,000 grant to build home for an Oklahoma City family.

OKLAHOMA CITY (July 19, 2008) – Experts in home repair from two organizations – Rebuilding Together and Lowe’s – joined forces to construct a new home in Central Oklahoma Habitat for Humanity’s new Hope Crossing neighborhood.  The volunteer construction crew comprised of Lowe’s representatives, board members from Rebuilding Together, and the future Habitat homeowners picked up their hammers today to raise the walls of Janine Lonewolf’s new home.

The volunteers are building the home with the Lonewolf family as part of Habitat for Humanity's effort to eliminate poverty housing and provide simple, decent affordable housing built in partnership with homeowners, volunteers and sponsors.  Sharing a similar mission, Rebuilding Together brings volunteers and communities together to rehabilitate the homes of low-income senior citizen homeowners.  Lowe’s, a national partner with Habitat for Humanity since 2003 and with Rebuilding Together since 2007, provided a grant of $50,000 in cash and materials to sponsor this home.

“We are very grateful to both Lowe’s and Rebuilding Together for their support in this project,” said Ann Felton, president and CEO of Central Oklahoma Habitat for Humanity. “Both organizations understand the importance of Habitat for Humanity’s mission, and we appreciate their tremendous generosity.”

Thank you, Lowe's and Rebuilding Together!
