All Souls’ Episcopal Church auction to help fund two Habitat homes

Auction items needed; proceeds to be matched by parishioner

 

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK (August 10, 2007) –

All Souls’ Episcopal Church is preparing to host

silent and live auctions to raise funds for con-

struction of two houses with Central Oklahoma

Habitat for Humanity for two deserving fam-

ilies.  Community participation is being sought

through volunteers, attendance at the auctions,

and donations of goods, services, or financial

support.

 

The auctions will be held on Sunday, September

9, in the All Souls’ Family Life Center at 6404 N.

Pennsylvania, from 5 – 8 p.m.  Tickets are

$10.00; must be 21 to attend.  All Souls’ and

other community volunteers will build the two

new quality affordable homes over three weeks,

from October 13 to November 3, 2007.

 

All Souls’ has long supported Central Oklahoma

Habitat’s housing mission.  A number of years

ago, the church fully funded and built a Habitat

home and originally intended to do the same in

2007.  Thanks to some very heartfelt giving,

though, a second house will now be built along-

side the first.

 

“We are really excited!” said Connie Givens,

member of the All Souls’ committee organizing

the auction event.  “Upon reaching our goal for

the first house, matching funds have been

pledged for the second house by one of our

parishioners!  Another parish family has

donated funds to pay for half a house, so who

knows where this may lead.”

 

“These homes will make such a tremendous difference in the lives of two families,” said Ann Felton, chairman and CEO of Central Oklahoma Habitat for Humanity.  “The more secure environment and more stable, affordable, interest-free house payments on a home of their own will open new doors of opportunity for children and adults, benefiting them for generations to come.”
